SVQs (Scottish Vocational Qualifications)

What a difference an SVQ makes...

“People who do apprenticeships become ambitious, they’re ‘doers’, the kind of people who will make things happen. These are the qualities I look for in people. Success is all about finding people like this – people who will help make any business grow, especially in times like these. It’s important that employers take apprenticeships seriously – apprentices make things happen and can help a business to grow and thrive."   Sir Alan Sugar 2009

If you have been keeping up to date with news on the recession lately you will have noticed a big focus on developing a skilled workforce in order to boost economy.  Lord Young, the skills minister, argued that it has never been more important to reinforce the message to businesses that if they invest in training, recent research suggests, they are 2.5 times less likely to fail.

Do you have a young employee between the ages of 16-19 years old?  Did you know they could qualify for funding to undertake an SVQ at no cost to them or you as the employer?  Skills Development Scotland (Scottish Enterprise) are funding young people who may have left school whether they have basic skills or qualifications they wish to upgrade.
